VSR Update

As we head into the holiday season, the entire team here at VSR wants to express our thanks to you, our customers, for relying on us to provide high quality products for your security, cabinets, bases, social distancing accessories, and so much more. We know that this has been a difficult year, and we appreciate how you’ve stuck with us through it all.

We wanted to take this opportunity to share some updates and reflections on where we’ve been in 2020, and where we hope to go as we look forward to 2021 and beyond.

New Cabinet Division Building

In September we began moving our cabinet division to a new building at 1941 Ramrod Avenue in Henderson – right across the street from our main headquarters. The move was completed when mechanical assembly moved in around the first week of November. The new 50,000 ft. facility will assemble, integrate, QC, test, and ship Slot cabinet products.

Division head Rich Kazebee shared what his team went through this year. “When the Covid-19 shutdown occurred, a handful of management continued working. We manned the assembly lines and continued to produce cabinets. During that time, we used that opportunity to develop a plan to improve what we believed to be key issues in the past. Quality, efficiency, organization, clean working environment and employee retention. We have been successful in developing a culture within our division that promotes teamwork, pride, job satisfaction and customer satisfaction. We have increased profitability by decreasing overtime through the application of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement of our processes. We have a hands-on management approach, sharing real time production metrics with our employees, improving workstations for better efficiency and comfort. We have a saying in the Cabinet Division – “We all do everything”. We all do whatever task is needed to make the whole team achieve our goals”.

He goes on to say that the Cabinet Division staff is well trained and highly motivated to produce a quality product that ships on-time. They utilize Lean Manufacturing principles to improve quality and throughput. “We promote a nurturing culture within our division to ensure our staff has a clear path towards improving their position within VSR and a good work\life balance”.

What is Rich’s outlook as we head into 2021? He says that they will continue to settle into their new Cabinet Division building. “We will be expanding to 4 main assembly lines and adding new staff to accommodate new customer projects. We are installing a new classroom to offer classes to our employees that will add to their skill sets and improve their position within VSR. In turn, this will improve the quality of our team as a whole. We will never stop striving to improve our quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction”.

Lock Division

The Cabinet Division building joins our other established facilities which include our Lock Division building at 1743 Whitney Mesa Drive in Henderson that was built in 2014 and is 27,488 square feet. Lock Division lead Elisha Sumbani sees the lock division’s mission this way: “Our job is to maintain our world-class reputation in quality, service, and professionalism while educating our clients about VSR products. To us the customer is the King, and we will continue to improve and adapt to developing technologies”.

Our new Maromatic pinning machine

The lock division has recently invested in new Maromatic pinning machines. Mr. Sumbani says that “The Lock division used to have 15 assemblers before we bought the Maromatic pinning machine. Each person could pin an average of 150 locks per day. The Maromatic machine made a very big difference as it can pin up an average of 1000 locks per day.

The VSR Lock Division also recently opened a new mill division. It’s comprised of 5 mills, a lathe and a 5-member crew that works tirelessly to ensure that all internal demands are met for the Cabinet and sheet metal divisions. By doing this, Elisha’s team has saved the company time and money, as opposed to having all of the parts manufacturing outsourced.

The Lock Division is fully prepared to face 2021 with optimism. New casino openings (such as Resorts World International in Las Vegas), expansions, and upgrades continue to keep our team busy. Elisha is confident that the Lock Division will continue to build a strong design team to work on new products and continue to improve the versatility and quality of our existing products.

Wood Division

Our Wood Division, which is located at 9 Sunset Way in Henderson, NV is dedicated to providing the highest quality gaming products and customer service. All of it delivered with exceptional pride in everything they build. Started in 2012, our 30,000 sq. ft. Wood shop has been designed to fill a void in the market that was seeking exceptional quality and service. Eight years later VSR’s wood shop has gone on to provide products for a multitude of major casinos from Florida to California. Our wood products include such items as pit podiums to high end slot bases with styles that are extremely attractive and help liven up any casino floor.

The Wood Department stepped up in 2020 by producing much-needed Social Distancing accessories that enabled casinos around the country to continue operations safely while protecting their bottom line.

Headquarters and Sheet Metal Division

VSR Headquarters and Sheet Metal Division

At our main building, which houses our Corporate Headquarters and our Sheet Metal Division, COO Jon Fryar is proud that the company was able to keep the full staff employed during this “horrible time in our nation’s history”.

Our lineup of recent equipment investments.

The Sheet Metal division also invested in some amazing new machines that have bolstered VSR’s capabilities and transformed our output capacity. Some of the acquisitions include:

  • The Trumpf Trubend 3066
    • Our team has mastered the art of making precise angles at every turn. Using the Trumpf Trubend 3066, we ensure that each piece meets our exacting specifications.
  • The Trumpf Trumatic 1000 Fiber
    • The Trumpf Trumatic 1000 Fiber punches, forms, taps threads and is fully automated, combining solid-state laser cutting and smart ejection technology.
  • The Trumpf Trupunch 5000
    • Showcasing the best of our manufacturing automation, the Trumpf Trupunch 5000, in tandem with the Trumpf Sheetmaster, has increased our throughput exponentially. Intelligently feeding, punching, and sorting VSR products, it will give us an edge as we head into the future.
  • The Trumpf Trulaser Fiber
    • Our newest acquisition, the Trumpf Trulaser Fiber 5030 is ready to blaze a trail with high speed processing and high quality, reproducible part production. The solid-state laser will bring our production times down, so products reach your gaming floor faster.

Mr. Fryar sums up his outlook on the future this way: “2021 is going to be a year of healing and self-reflection after what 2020 has dealt us. We are cautiously optimistic, but our first priority is to keep our work force safe and to move towards our goals in the safest possible manner”.
